Skyping and West Wiki's

Grade 5 are currently contributing to their story wiki with the 6 groups from West. They are discovering that it is important to use proper and polite language to communicate to people they don't know. e.g. Many have been a bit put out that the comments in their discussion page seem a bit gruff or rude.

We are Skyping with two Deakin students this week also. Beginning tomorrow, students will participate in a get to know you session with their student teacher, and several students from West. From there, students will be involved in ICT peer teaching via Skype and Wiki's. Should prove to be very useful and a lot of fun.

Bec, this is ground breaking. What a great use of skype. It really answers the question about how we can use this technology for education. It's a very legitimate use of skype and could be extended to mobile phones which Anne is keen to develop. I wouldn't mind you sharing some of this at our next literacy meeting - and to also discuss the Making Thinking Visible workshop you did. Would that be ok? Do you find this valuable?

Yes of course Marg, we are starting tomorrow from 2.30-3pm and have another student teacher Friday for half an hour. Then two more sessions next week at the same time. Do you find this valuable?
